Modeling and Numerical Aspects of Population Balance Equations in gas/liquid-liquid Two Phase Flows
In this paper, we present numerical techniques for one-way coupling of CFD and Population Balance Equations (PBE) based on the incompressible flow solver FeatFlow which is extended with a) Chien’s Low-Reynolds number k − ε turbulence model [4], b) breakage kernel model of Lehr et al. [34, 35], c) coalescence kernel model of Lehr et al. [34]. The presented implementation ensures a strictly conse...
متن کاملComparison of the hyperbolic range of two-fluid models on two-phase gas -liquid flows
In this paper, a numerical study is conducted in order to compare hyperbolic range of equations of isotherm two-fluid model governing on two-phase flow inside of pipe using conservative Shock capturing method. Differential equations of the two-fluid model are presented in two forms (i.e. form I and form II). In forms I and II, pressure correction terms are hydrodynamic and hydrostatic, respecti...
متن کاملThe nuclear liquid { gas phase
The time evolution of excited nuclei, which are in equilibrium with the surrounding vapour, is investigated. It is shown that the nite nuclear systems undergo a rst order phase transition. The caloric curve is presented for excited 16 O, 24 Mg, 27 Al and 40 Ca and the critical temperature is estimated for 16 O.
متن کاملDynamical liquid-gas phase transition
We describe in detail a lattice gas model whose irreversible dynamics leads to a phase transition. Attractive and repulsive forces between particles are similar to those of our previous papers. The equilibrium properties such as the equation of state, the pressure tensor in the bulk and on interfaces, and Laplace's law are investigated numerically. Surface tension, equilibrium
